TRAVEL GRANTS
GRANT APPLICATION - INTRODUCTION
The Trust Board may provide grants-in-aid to eligible applicants for assistance with the costs of travel relevant to their research in a health-related field. This may include (i) travel to scientific meetings; (ii) visits to research centres; (iii) short travel periods to work in research laboratories or undertake research training. The grants are not available for personal career advancement.
Grants-in-aid for personal travel are usually in the range of $1,000 - $3,000 and have a current limit of $3,000 unless exceptional circumstances apply.
Eligibility
Qualified research workers in any health science field in New Zealand are eligible to apply for travel grants-in-aid from the Trust. Senior graduate students are eligible to apply, but less senior students (e.g. Masters and first-year PhD students) are unlikely to be considered for travel grants-in-aid unless the circumstances are exceptional.
N.B. Research workers seeking funds for personal attendance at a conference must apply using the TRAVEL GRANT category (even if the conference will be held locally). Conference support grants (q.v.) are not available for this purpose.
Further advice may be obtained from the office of the Trust if needed.
