TRAVEL GRANTS
GRANT APPLICATION - INTRODUCTION
The Trust Board may provide grants-in-aid to eligible applicants for assistance with the costs of travel relevant to their research in a health-related field. This may include (i) travel to scientific meetings; (ii) visits to research centres; (iii) short travel periods to work in research laboratories or undertake research training. The grants are not available for personal career advancement.
Grants-in-aid for personal travel are usually in the range of $1,000 - $3,000 and have a current limit of $3,000 unless exceptional circumstances apply.
Eligibility
Qualified research workers in any health science field in New Zealand are eligible to apply for travel grants-in-aid from the Trust. This includes doctoral students in the final year of their PhD studies, but less senior students including Masters students and first or second year PhD students are no longer eligible to apply. This amendment will come into effect after completion of the MPPT funding round in June/July 2013 and should be noted by student researchers intending to apply for travel grants by the closing date on 1 October 2013.
N.B. Research workers seeking funds for personal travel to attend a conference must apply using the TRAVEL GRANT category (even if the conference will be held locally). Conference support grants (q.v.) are not available for this purpose.
Further advice may be obtained from the office of the Trust if needed.
