Next Funding Round Closes 1 October 2026
30 July 2026
The Maurice and Phyllis Paykel Trust’s next funding round is now open, with applications closing at 5.00 pm on Thursday, 1 October 2026.
The Trust has a long history of supporting health-related research and research training across New Zealand. Funding is available through several grant categories:
Project & Equipment Grants – supporting health-related research projects, including basic biomedical sciences, as well as equipment for research use.
Travel Grants – supporting health researchers to attend scientific meetings, visit research collaborators or undertake training in relevant research techniques.
Conference Support Grants – assisting New Zealand institutions and professional organisations to host scientific conferences in health-related fields, particularly those with a focus on research and research training.
Researchers considering applying are encouraged to review the relevant grant guidelines and eligibility requirements carefully and to allow plenty of time to prepare and submit their application.
A few important reminders for this round:
Project & Equipment applicants must ensure that their two nominated referees submit their referee reports by the 1 October deadline. Applicants should therefore approach their referees well in advance of the closing date.
There is also a one-year stand-down period for Project & Equipment and Travel funding, and all applicants must use the current standard CV template available through the application portal.
Travel Grant applicants should note that funding cannot be awarded retrospectively. For this round, proposed travel must take place after the relevant Trust Board meeting on 19 November 2026.
Applications close at 5.00 pm on Thursday, 1 October 2026.
